Andréa Banke performs R.Vaughan William's Oboe Concerto with the WSU Symphony Orchestra

Thursday Evening, December 1st, at 7:30 PM in the CAC Theatre, Wichita State University campus

Richly lyrical and reflecting a pastoral character, the concerto belies its wartime origins: The July 1944 London premiere was postponed due to German air raids.

Scott Oakes was joined by Andréa Banke and Kansas State Oboist Nora Lewis, along with WSU's own Mark Foley, bass and Thomas Grubb, harpsichord in Zelenka's monumental fifth "trio sonata" to finish out his Faculty Artist Recital Tuesday April 26 in Weidemann Hall.

Master Class with Dr. Norah Lewis

Kansas State oboe professor Nora Lewis gave a master class Tuesday, April 26 at WSU. In her presentation, she discussed a number of theoretical and practical concepts relating to articulation on the oboe.

Oboe and bassoon students were asked to produce different styles and speeds of articulation and were given instruction to refine their use the tongue and the air.
